High speed CNC machining of AISI 304 stainless steel

 It is not easy to machine materials like austenitic stainless steel because of their high strength, high ductility and low thermal conductivity.


This paper discusses the experimental study on performance characteristics of AISI 304 stainless steel during CNC drilling process.Factors like spindle speed, feed rate and point angle affect the performance parameters such as the surface roughness and ovality in drilling process. To get minimum surface roughness and minimum ovality, the best optimal level of parameters has to be chosen carefully. This paper presents the multi-objective optimization of drilling process parameters using Taguchi method in machining of AISI304 stainless steel.
