Stainless steel machining is the most common one of the processing materials, mainly martensitic steel, ferritic steel, austenitic steel and other types.Stainless steel is widely used in our life, whether it is processing equipment manufacturing, chemical industry, food industry.Here we will introduce the stainless steel machining process—grinding.


Grinding Characteristics

1. High plasticity, severe work hardening. Stainless steel elongation is 1.5 times than SAE1045,the big extrusion deformation during grinding process,caused the cold hard phenomenon.

2. Grinding temperature is high. Stainless steel thermal conductivity is poor, so the grinding zone temperature is high.Stainless steel linear expansion coefficient is large, it is easy to lead to size measurement error, especially grinding long shaft and thin-walled parts, prone to warping uneven size and uneven thickness.

3. Chip adhesion phenomenon.Grinding wheel is easy to be chip adhesion, grinding wheel is blocked, friction increases, grinding force and grinding heat increase. So the surface burns the phenomenon of processing,to get worse surface roughness.
